CAN'T WAIT FOR SUMMER....

...cause I need to sleep! I'm so tired lately, and I'm not sure why. I don't mean just 'end of the day' tired, I wake up tired, my lower back is super stiff and I can barely make it till 9pm at night. I'm not doing anything new, and I do try to get plenty of rest, but I feel like I'm running on half a tank of gas. Oh well, maybe it's just my type A personality, if I don't accomplish a gazillion things every day I don't feel happy.

CRUNCH TIME

It's almost that time of year when a teacher's long hard work is put to the test....the state test that is. Since the stupidest education regulation ever passed by man became law, better known as 'No Child Left Behind or NCLB, every year around this time students in the country are tested on their vast knowledge of ever subject they don't study in school. If they do well, they get the good classes in high school, or get to graduate if they're already in high school. If they do poorly, they go to the dummy less challenging classes in high school and teachers get reamed, and yelled at by the inept administrators who left the classroom mostly because they couldn't teach. Gotta love education!

PAGING CANADA

I finally bought my ticket to go home, after wasting  time trying an innumerable number of city combinations to try and save a couple of bucks. This time I'm flying the friendly Canadian skies on my way to the other side of the hemisphere. I just didn't feel like traveling with the Russian, Turkish, Moroccan or Polish airlines. Maybe I'm an airline elitist, or right down racist when it comes to choosing who to fly with, but since the skin is mine, I get to decide and it seems to me my Canadian cousins are pretty handy with an airplane, hey! Anywho, my lay over is in Montreal, which I've never seen, hopefully the airport is nice, cause I think I've got a couple of hours to wait.

Well folks, I think that's it for this week. I haven't been around as much as I would have liked, but Is till read your blogs, so I'm in the know...kinda...

  1. 1. Maybe you're getting old. But that can't be, we are the same age, I think.

    2. Good luck on the test. Some states cheat, don't they?

    3. Have fun in Montreal and at home.

    1. I think we are, the same young age that is...lol. Georgia got caught big time cheating, but who wouldn't if your job was directly related to it? It's just a stupid approach....:)

  2. Curse the NCLB! My daughter's school is doing so bad on the reading part that they brought in a teacher to work with the kids before testing. Something about needing to raise the scores or shut the doors. That's not so good. At least I know my daughter can read great.

    1. Don't even get me started with all the gimmicks they're having us do to raise the scores, it's ridiculous. Hopefully, things are supposed to be changing now that NCLB is on its way out, not a minute too soon either...

  4. We're testing right now---MAP--IF students come up in the spring from their fall scores, the teachers get to keep their pay. IF not, the teachers' pay decreases. Or something like that. Regardless, it's STUPID. This is the last week (I've been testing our students since April 9) and then we have one week before the state testing begins. It is ridiculous. Absolutely. Ridiculous.

  5. You have a tough job with all the crap you have to put up with.
But I recommend you do some yoga. It helps my energy level and keeps one foot on the building when I'm stressed.

  6. Ah yes, state testing, the time of year we test our kids in every area of learning and expect them to be a master of all of them, regardless of their varying skills.

Have fun in Montreal! I've always just wanted to see Canada in general. Very jealous!
